Group Shared Policy on Environment

Revised on : April 1, 2025
We work with our stakeholders to contribute to harmonious coexistence with the Earth and set goals to realize a sustainable “Recycling-Oriented Society”.
We focus our environmental efforts on both our own business activities and the entire value chain*1, from upstream resource extraction to downstream usage and disposal, along with the surrounding areas.
We limit greenhouse gas emissions from the entire value chain*2 to the extent that the Earth can naturally absorb, promote climate change mitigation and adaptation, and contribute to achieving net-zero emissions.
We promote the alleviation of negative impacts related to air, water and soil pollution (including prevention and management) and contribute to securing food resources for future generations, conserving natural environments (including ecosystems and biodiversity), preserving water resources through appropriate water treatment and water quality improvement to prevent water pollution*3, and reducing water-related risks.
We appropriately implement the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) for waste generated across the entire value chain, expand the use of non-fossil-based and recycled materials, and advance initiatives*4 to maximize resource utilization.
We comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Under the Environmental Management System, we continually strive to prevent environmental problems, regularly conduct monitoring and risk assessment, and promote environmental improvement.
- Applies to the entire value chain, covering both upstream and downstream processes (from resource extraction and manufacturing through to distribution, usage, and disposal).
- Improvement of energy efficiency in manufacturing processes and logistics, along with the promotion of transitions to renewable energy sources, etc.
- Minimization of water usage and, when necessary, promotion of close communication with stakeholders, such as local communities, to streamline and improve water use and prevent water quality deterioration.
- Includes minimizing the use of virgin raw materials, etc.
